History
Founded in 1946, the St. Louis JACL replaced a predecessor organization, the Nisei Council. The chapter’s nominating committee identified its initial slate of officers, which included for president: Sam Nakano, Al Morioka and Henry Tani; for vice president: Alice Hayashi, Louis Kujrahara and George Teraoka; for recording secretary: May Sakaizawa, Chico Sakaguchi and Margie Hamamoto; for corresponding secretary: Jinx Kuahara and Aiko Kayashima; for treasurer: Will Kagawa, Tad Ochiai and Jimmie Hayashi; for historian: Chizu Kanda, Janice Shirota and George Kagawa; and for public relations: Mary Emma, Tad Yoshimine and Fred Oshima.
