2012 Minoru Yasui
Oratorical Competiton

The MDC is searching for their 2012 Minoru Yasui Oratorical contestant. Competitors must be JACL members and compete in-person at the MDC Spring 2012 meeting on March 17 in Cincinnati, OH.

TOPIC: Asian Pacific Islander Americans (APIAs) have been notoriously grouped together in spite of the distinct cultural and historical backgrounds of different Asian ethnicities. Now that Japanese Americans are a small percentage of the APIAs in the United States, how can JACL maintain its JA heritage while also staying relevant within an APIA community filled with new immigrants and multiracial/multiethnic individuals?
